ExpressLive: Old Swing, Violets, Hux, Malaika
Century Club, Shaftesbury Avenue 61-63, W1D6 London, United Kingdom, London
Success Express, supporting new and exciting independent aritsts, and defining themselves as "the beating heart of the creative community" celebrate their tenth anniversary this year. Our February Friday Night Showcase features four incredible acts, followed by DJ's on their beautiful Century roof terrace until the wee hours.
OLD SWING London based trio Old Swing formed late 2016 and have hit the ground running with their anthemic, synth-soaked indie pop sound. "Drenched in synth and packed with indie-pop hooks, Time has the perfect balance of pop energy and mellow emotion to provide a dreamy, laid-back indie pop sound which is sure to earn Old Swing the recognition they deserve." - One Great Song "The shimmering warmth of recent single, 'Time', is gaining Old Swing plenty of attention including a recent feature on BBC Music Introducing, and it is easy to see why. Producer Sam Winfield (Fickle Friends, Amber Run) clearly revelled in hopping aboard the band's DeLorean and tastefully turning the clock back with the track's gated snares and synth-infused layers. - The Unsigned Guide “You’re gonna like this. It’s an awesome track.” - Gareth Lloyd, BBC Introducing
VIOLETS
London based three piece VIOLETS play their own style of classy electro pop, and have been on the radar as "ones to watch" since a run of London shows and festivals, by way of an introduction, last year.
Gearing up for an exciting single release on the 22nd of March, we are looking forward to hosting this outstanding live act, with a hugely engaging sound.
HUX George and Patrick, aka HUX are a new, fresh London based group, with a combination of Australian and English musical backgrounds. Their vibrant and soulful sound is raw yet distinct, and has drawn many admirers over the last two years through constant live shows in London and on UK tour. Hux released their debut track earlier this year and more is eagerly awaited.
MALAIKA Malaika is a young, award-winning blues jazz artist, who in her short career to date has been played on Radio 1, played the Montreal Jazz Festival and been backed by Jamie Cullum and BBC Introducing. Her songwriting indulges in luscious, yet witty Jazz chords with a cheeky Reggae twist. Her smoky soulful vocals are instantly gripping and spicy.
